CHINA - ELEPHANT TRUNK HILL & FUBO HILL, GUILIN

Our tour destination for today is Elephant Trunk Hill, which is located in Xiangbi Mountain, Xiangshan, Guilin. The journey of 4.6 km takes about 15 minutes. We will continue our journey after having breakfast at a Halal Restaurant in Guilin.

ELEPHANT TRUNK HILL

Elephant Trunk Hill is located at the junction of the Li River and the Taohua River in the southwest of Guilin city. It is called Elephant Trunk Hill because it is shaped like an elephant drinking water. It has been a famous tourist destination since the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

After visiting Elephant Trunk Hill, we headed to our next destination, Fuboshan Park, which is approximately 2.5 km away and takes about 8 minutes to reach.

FUBOHILL

The Fubo Hill located 2 km from the Elephant Trunk Hill and just above the western bank of the Li River. On this hill, a temple in commemoration of General Fubo was built in the Han Dynasty (202 B.C - 220 A.D.). which give the rise to the name "Fubo Hill". 

General Ma Yuan (14 BC - 49 AD), known by his official title Fubo Jiangjun (General who calms the waves), was a general who served during the Han Dynasty. He is a very famous general in Chinese history. He was highly respected among the Chinese community at that time, and even his daughter became the Empress of the Ming Emperor of the Han Dynasty. One of his achievements in the military field was helping Emperor Guangwu unify the Chinese Empire and suppress the rebellion of the Trung Sisters in Jiaozhi (Vietnam), as well as the rebellion of the Wulin tribe in the Middle East of Guizhou. He died in 49 AD due to illness while on an expedition to Hunan.

Fuboshan Park is the entrance to Fubo Hill, marked by a statue of the famous Fubo General Ma Yuan.

After the photo session at Fuboshan Park, we continued our journey to a Chinese tea processing shop that I can't remember the name of.

CHINA - GUILIN NIGHT TOUR

After the tour at Shangri-La Park, we boarded the bus for dinner before returning to the hotel to rest because later that night we would be taken for the Night Tour in Guilin.

We stopped at a halal restaurant in Guilin for dinner.

UNIVERSAL HOTEL, GUILIN

We stayed at Universal Hotel, located in Xiufeng District in Guilin. The hotel is close to the boarding point of 2 rivers and 4 lakes. It stands on the Bank of the beautiful Lijiang River. From the window, you can have a panoramic view of the famous scenic spots in Guilin, such as Xiangbi Mountain, Fubo Hill, Duxiu peak etc...

GUILIN NIGHT TOUR

The city of Guilin is built around rivers and lakes that are interconnected. Two Rivers and Four Lakes of Guilin refer to Peach Blossom River and Li River, Mulong Lake, China Fir Lake, Banyan Lake and Osmanthus Lake. 

There are marble bridges and pavilions along the waterways. Witnessing the beauty of Guilin at night is a rare and truly beautiful experience.

Ronghu Lake and Shanhu Lake are located in the middle of the city center and are separated by the Yang Bridge. They connect the Li River and the Peach Blossom River. Once a cultural center during the reign of the Qing Dynasty, they are now tourist attractions in Guilin.

Located in Guilin Lugu Lake Scenic Area, there are four major statues of the late Qing Dynasty in Guangxi. It is worth a visit to understand Guilin's cultural history, and the night view is more beautiful. 

ANCIENT SOUTH CITY GATE

Guilin can not only be proud of its unique Karst Mountain Landscape but also its rich history. 

The Ancient South City Gate (also known as Gu'nanmen) is the southern entrance to the city of Guilin, built during the reign of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). There is a long tunnel hidden behind the gate. In front of the gate, there is a Big Banyan Tree that is thousands of years old.

"The Shadow of the Ancient Banyan Tree" is one of the famous scenic spots since the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

THE SUN AND THE MOON PAGODAS

The Sun and Moon Pagodas are located near Shan Lake. They are also known as the Gold and Silver Pagodas because of their color at night. The Sun Pagoda is the tallest bronze pagoda in the world. 

At a height of 41 meters, the Sun Pagoda has 9 floors, which is 2 floors higher than the Moon Pagoda. The Sun Pagoda is made of bronze, while the Moon Pagoda is made of colored glaze.

After walking for almost an hour, we finally arrived at our destination where our bus was already waiting. We returned to the hotel to rest. The following day, Andalusia Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd has arranged several more tour programs.
