KUALA LUMPUR: CHERAS

Cheras is a suburban and a district stardding both the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat District in the state of Selangor. 

The township is located to the south-east of downtown Kuala Lumpur.Cheras is also adjacent to Ampang to the north and Kajang to the south. 

While working at the Heart Foundation of Malaysia, I have conducted many health screening programs in the Cheras district, Kuala Lumpur.

21 APRIL 2013

On 21 April 2013, the Malaysian Heart Foundation was invited to conduct a Health Screening Test for residents around Taman Cheras Perdana, Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 129 residents attended the Health Screening throughout the day. This time, YJM was assisted by nurses from the Hulu Langat District Health Office and also the Taman Chera

s Perdana CP3 Committee and Rukun Tetangga.

The Community Program in Taman Midah, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur was held on 14 August 2016 in collaboration with KRT Taman Midah. A total of 56 people attended the Health Screening test on that day.

Taman Midah was formerly known as Bolton Garden is a township in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. The name Taman Midah probably takes from the Midah River.

Taman Midah is located 5 km from Bukit Bintang in the centre of Kuala Lumpur. To its west is the Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Taman Connaught is a residential township in Cheras, southeastern of Kuala Lumpur. It is stragically located at the junction of 3 major roads namely the Jalan Cheras, Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) and Salak Expressway. 

UCSI University is a private university in Malaysia, accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), the Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB) and several other professional bodies. 

UCSI University provides academic programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These includes programs in business, engineering, architecture, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, tourism, applied science, music and social science. 

The Malaysian Heart Foundation implemented a health screening program for students and lecturers at the University on 11 January 2017.

The Health Screening Program for Senior Citizens at the Cheras Senior Citizens Activity Center on 13 July 2017 was attended by 39 senior citizens.

The Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PAWE) is a place for senior citizens to carry out daily activities in the community. It is a service that provides social outreach and development to senior citizens, involving strategic collaboration between KPWKM, other government agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

NEGERI SEMBILAN : JALAN BUKIT PUTUS & BAHAU

Have you ever been through Jalan Bukit Putus which is located between Kuala Pilah and Seremban.

During its heyday, Jalan Bukit Putus was the only road that could get you between Kuala Pilah and Seremban. It's dubbed "serpentine road" by locals for its infamous 32 twists and turns and is still used by cars and cyclists. 

The Bukit Putus road has a pretty rich history as in 1875, the area saw the legendary Yang Di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Yam Tuan Amtah and his 4,000 men force take on British to fight back against colonial rule. 

The travel distance from my office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor to Bahau is 157 km and takes 2 hours 32 minutes.

I once had the experience of driving alone along Bukit Putus Road (sorry, I don't remember the exact year). I was on my way back to Kuala Lumpur after attending the Mechanical Engineering Technical Division meeting at the ERA Hotel at Bahau, Negeri Sembilan. It was before the new road was constructed. It was around 11.30 p.m and I was alone driving through the quite street at night.

I've heard and read many horror stories about this Bukit Putus road. But I dared to continue driving in the dark, lonely night with no other cars except mine.

Thank God, I finally reached my destination without any scary interruptions.
