HOTEL MEMORIES (KUALA LUMPUR)

1999: DORSET REGENCY KUALA LUMPUR
Attending my wife's friend's wedding at Dorsett Regency Hotel Kuala Lumpur (now Dorsett Kuala Lumpur) at Jalan Bukit Bintang.


2000: RENAISSANCE HOTEL KUALA  LUMPUR
IEM 41st Annual Dinner on 15 April 2000, held at The Renaissance Hotel located at the corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail dan Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
The hotel was a premier venue for large-scale corporate and professional gatherings in KL during the early 2000's.


2001: MANDARIN ORIENTAL HOTEL KL
The IEM 42nd Annual Dinner was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur City Center on 21 April 2001. 
The Guest of Honor was the then Deputy Prime Minister, Dato'Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. 


2002: ISTANA HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR
The IEM 43rd Annual Dinner was held at the Istana Hotel, located at Jalan Raja Chulan, KL, was a landmark of Malaysian hospitality for nearly 30 years.
The hotel was launched in 1992 by then-Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. 
Sadly the hotel ceased operationss on September 1, 2021, due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism industry and increasing competition in the city center. 
The building has been undergoing a massive transformation. Following its closure, it was announced that the property would be rebranded and refurbished as the Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur, marking the entry of the luxury Hilton-owned brand into the Malaysian market.


21-24 MAY 2006: BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE HOTEL KL
The 11th Asian Congress of Fluid Mechanics was held at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, located at Jalan Imbi, Bukit Bintang, KL. This is a major international conference organised by The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia from 21-24 May 2006, to brings together researchers and engineers to discuss advances in aerodynamic, heat transfer and computational fluid dynamic. 
Berjaya Times Square Hotel was opened in 2003. I Stayed at room 38-04, a service suite style room, from my room at 38th floor, looking down at Pudu Prison, at the time in 2006 was still standing. Most of this complex was demolished in 2010 to make way for the Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) development.

27-30 AUGUST 2006: KL CONVENTION CENTRE
The 11th Asian Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineering (APPChE) Congress held at KL Convention Centre from 27-30 August 2006. This event was a major milestone for the chemical engineering community in the region, it brought together 1,000 delegates to discuss the future of the industry.
The KL Convention Centre was opened in May 2005 as part of the Integrated KLCC development. It is owned by the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of PETRONAS). 
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it served as a mass vaccination centre.


The date of 28 August 2006, when the 11th APPChE was held at the KL Convention Centre, coincidentally coincided with the wedding ceremony of Malaysia's top artist at the time, Siti Nurhaliza (Dato Sri later on), and Dato' Sri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, one of the most famous wedding ceremonies in Malaysia that was broadcast nationwide and was dubbed the "Wedding of the Century". The wedding was held at the ground floor of KL Convention Centre while our event was held at the 3rd floor. 


17 APRIL 2010: SIME DARBY CONVENTION CENTRE
The IEM 51st Annual Dinner was held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre on 17 April 2010. A milestone event celebrating the 51st Anniversary of IEM, which is the Primary professional body for engineers in Malaysia.
The Sime Darby Convention Centre is a premier event space located near the KL Golf and Country Club (KLGCC), Bukit Kiara, KL. It is a key asset of Sime Darby Property Berhad.It opened its doors in February 2006.


15.12.2013: HOTEL SUNWAY PUTRA, KL
The Poster Exhibition event held at the Sunway Putra Hotel KL on December 14 & 15, 2013 hosted by Yayasan Jantung Malaysia. 
Sunway Putra Hotel, a 5-star Hotel located at Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur, strategically situated in the "Diamond Triangle" area of Kuala Lumpur, opposite to World Trade Centre KL (WTCKL), formerly known as the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). The complex was originally known as "The Mall" dan "The Legend Hotel" when it first opened in the 1990's. 


27.2.2014: ISTANA HOTEL, KL
The Yayasan Jantung Malaysia celebrating its 30th Anniversaty Commemoration Dinner on February 27, 2014. 
The event was held at the iconic Hotel Istana at Jalan Raja Chulan, KL. The hotel officially opened in 1992, was launched by the then-Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. 
However, after 29 years of operation, the hotel officially ceased operation on September 1, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite serving as a quarantine hotel during the lockdowns, the management reported significant operation losses and determined the business was no longer viable. 


5 AUGUST 2017: GRAND SEASON HOTEL KL
Reunion of Class '73 from SRJK (Inggeris) Gombak 1 & Gombak 2 on 5 August 2017 at the Grand Season Hotel, Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur.
SRJK Gombak was separated into two administration that is Gombak 1 and Gombak in 1971, sharing the same site at Km 8, Jalan Gombak, Kuala Lumpur. 
The Grand Season Hotel today had officially ceased operations on 28 February 2018 after over 20 years in business. During the pandemic in 2021, the building was temporarily repurposed as Rumah Prihatin @ Grand Season, a welfare centre and "Welfare Hotel" to thos in need an frontliners.

HOTEL MEMORIES (NEGERI SEMBILAN)

1996: FAMILY VACATION AT KEMANG CONDOMINIUM, PORT DICKSON
Also known as Kemang Indah Resort , located nearby the Teluk Kemang beach area, a walk-up-apartment style condominium with basic amneties including swimming pool and others.


2006: PORT DICKSON GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
Memories of attending the "METD Leadership Retreat" Session held at the Port Dickson Golf and Country Resort on 24-25 November 2006.


2012: CASA RACHADO BEACH RESORT, PORT DICKSON
The Malaysian Heart Foundation held a Motivational Course for staff at Casa Rachado Resort on 11-12 February 2012, located in Port Dickson, N.Sembilan. Also participating were 6 YJM Board of Directors. The course lasted for 2 days. We stayed at Casa Rachado Beach resort.



2012: FAME HOTEL, TERMINAL 2, SEREMBAN
Fame Hotel (now known as OYO 776 Fame Hotel) located at Wisma City Kingdom, near Terminal One Mall and the Terminal One Bus Station and5-minutes from Seremban Railway Station. Amenities available included free parking, and my room facing a graveyard. 


2012: HOTEL SERI MALAYSIA SEREMBAN
Family overnight stay at Hotel Seri Malaysia Seremban, a 3-star hotel located at Jalan Sungai Ujong, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. It offers straightforward accommodation with amenities such as free breakfast, a restaurant and a BBQ area. 


2015: HOMESTAY HAJI ABDUL HAMID, KG. SUNGAI LAYANG, REMBAU
A comfortable and clean accommodation located at Kg. Sungai Layang, Rembau, N.Sembilan. Recommended for family holidays or gathering, The owner, Tuan Hj Abdul Hamid bin Hamzah is known for his hospitality and friendly services. 
I stayed at this homestay with colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening Program in Gunung Datuk, Rembau on 17 October 2015.


2015: YOURS FAMILY HOTEL, REMBAU
A value-for-money hotel, a budget-friendly hotel and has been in operation for many years.
Located at Taman Dato Lela Maharaja, Pekan Chembong, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. 


2016 : CARLTON STAR HOTEL, SEREMBAN
Located at Jalan Dato Sheikh Ahmad, Bandar Seremban, was a known budget hotel, particularly for its convenient location in the city center, within a short walking distance of the Seremban Railway Station and the Bus Terminal. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Seremban Heart Week 2016 program which was held at Terminal 1 Shopping Centre, Seremban from 26-28 August 2016.


2016: HOTEL S2, SEREMBAN 2
Also known as OYO 542 S2 Hotel, conveniently located just behind the AEON Seremban 2 shopping Mall, with easy access to nearby restaurants and shops. A budget-friendly hotel offering simple accommodtion included Ample parking and spacious rooms.
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening program at SMK Seremban 2 on 19 April 2016.


ONE GARDEN HOTEL, BANDAR SENAWAN
Located at Bandar Senawang, Seremban, is a 2-star hotel offering comfortable accommodation with amenities liek free WiFi and parking. Located near the Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Terminal One Mall, Seremban Senawang Station etc. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening program Taman Paroi Jaya (2016) dan S.K. Lavender Heights, Senawang (2017).

HOTEL TROPICANA, GEMAS
A budget-friendly hotel at Pekan Gemas, near the Gemas Railway Station. A popular choice for travelers needing an overnight stay to catch an early morning train. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening program at FELDA Palong in 2017 and 2018.


SUTERA HOTEL, SEREMBAN 2
A 3-star boutique concept hotel located in the vibrant Seremban 2, near AEON Mall Seremban 2 and TESCO. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening program at SMK Seremban 2 on 2017 & 2018.

2018: NILAI HOTEL, NILAI
Located at Jalan BBN 1/3d, Putra Point, is a popular straightforward 2-star hotel choice, especially for families and students visiting or during graduation at the nearby Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
I stayed at this hotel during my Son Graduation at USIM in 2018.

ERA HOTEL, BAHAU
I used to stay at this hotel but I don't remember what year when I attended a meeting of the Mechanical Engineering Technical Division of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia.


The hotel in now known as Garden View Hotel

That's a little bit about the hotels in Negeri Sembilan that I've stayed at before.Negeri Sembilan is worth visiting, with beautiful culture and architecture, beaches and wide range of outdoor activities.

HOTEL MEMORIES (TERENGGANU)

2013: POK ENG TIN HOTEL, KEMAMAN
A budget-friendly accommodation popular among business travelers and oil and gas industry workers. Located at Taman Chukai Utama (Phase 3), Jalan Kubang Kurus, Chukai, Kemaman, Terengganu. It is within the walking distance of banks, local kopitiams and restaurants. 
I stayed at this hotel with colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening Program at SJK (Cina) Kemaman on 26 October 2013.


BATU BUROK BEACH RESORT, KUALA TERENGGANU
Batu Burok Beach Resort (now knows as DSH Batu Burok Beach Resort), located at Jalan Pantai Batu Buruk, Kampung Pantai Batu Burok, Kuala Terengganu. 
The resort offers basic, budget-friendly accommodation with a swimming pool and easy access to local eateries. 
The beach next to the resort is beautiful for walking and enjoying the sunrise, but swimming was strongly not recommended due to strong currents. 
I stayed at this hotel with colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening Program in Kuala Terengganu in the years 2015, 2016 and 2018.

PANDAN LAUT BEACH RESORT, SETIU
A 2-star beach resort located at Kampung Sekeping, Setiu, Terengganu. It is also referred to as Pantai Rhu Sepuluh, Penarik.
It offers a tranquil stay with easy access to the beach and local attractions. It is conveniently located for exploring the Setia area which include the Merang Jetty which is about 10-minute drive awa, offering ferry rides to nearby islands such as Pulau Redang, Pulau Lang Tengah and Pulau Bidong.
A famous fish cracker (keropok) factory and shop is just a 15-minute drive awa. 
I stayed at this resort with colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening Program in Setiu in 2015 and 2017.

2O16: INTAN BEACH RESORT, KUALA TERENGGANU
The resort located Lorong Dato' Jaya, Jalan Haji Busu, Kampung Pantai Batu Buruk, Kuala Terengganu. It provides a range of amenities for a comfortable stay. 
I stayed at this resort with colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening Program at PTPL Kuala Terengganu College (now MSU College) on 25 April 2016.



2017: AJ HOTEL, KUALA BERANG
Located at Batu 24, Kuala Berang, Terengganu, is a 2-star budget accommodation, near the town center and offers basic amenities suitable for a short stay. Nearby attraction such as Kenyir Lake and Sekayu Waterfall.
I stayed at this resort with colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening Program at SJK (Cina) Chong Hua, Wakaf Tapai, Marang, Terengganu on 16 July 2017. The hotel is now known as OYO 90162 AJ Hotel




2018: PELADANG SETIU AGRO RESORT, SETIU
A good place for family events, corporate functions or backpackers due to its quite, cool environment and activities. Situated next to Gunung Tebu Forest Reserve, about 89 km from Kuala Terengganu. 
I stayed at this resort with colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation during the Health Screening Program at University College Bestari in Setiu on 1 April 2018.


Culturally, Terengganu has a lot in common with its northern neighbour, Kelantan, but the cultural and historical differences between the two states make Kelantan interesting and well worth including in your trip to Terengganu. A bus ride from Kuala Terengganu to Kota Bharu lasts only about three hours.

2012: ANGGERIK LODGING, GELUGOR
A budget-friendly hotel located at Hilir Pemancar, Taman Tun Sardon, Gelugor, Pulau Pinang. It is known for its convenient lecation near local food stalls and the University of Science Malaysia (USM). 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Community Level Health Screening program in Kampung Titi Teras, Balik Pulau, Penang on 15 April 2012.


2012/2013: SRI INDAR HOTEL, BUKIT MERTAJAM
A prominent budget-friendly hotel located at Jalan Sungai Rambai, Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang. It gained popularity for its proximity to local industrial hubs like the Prai and Juru Industrial Estates. Established in 2009, today in 2025 it is widely known as OYO 510 Sri Indar Hotel
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Health Screening program at AEON Seberang Perai City (2012) and at SMK Bukit Berapit (2013).


2014: HOTEL SERI PAUH, PERAI
A 2-star budget hotel located at Taman Pauh Jaya, Perai, Pulau Pinang. It is located in the business neighbourhood of Jalan Baharu, Perai, Penang. The hotel offers proximity to a varity of local dining and shopping includes AEON Seberang Prai City, Sunway Carnival Mall, Mydin Mall, Penang Bird Park etc. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Penang Heart Week 2014 program at AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam from 21 - 24 August 2014.


2014: HOTEL PALM INN, BUKIT MERTAJAM
The hotel located at Taman Industri Permatang Batu, Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang, near the Bandar Perda area. A basic, affordable and clean hotel offering good value for money. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Health Screening program held at Apartment Permata, Bandar Baru Perda, Bukit Mertajam on 22 June 2014.


2015 : OLD PENANG HOTEL, GEORGE TOWN
Located at Kampung Jawa Lama, within a 5-minute walk of Penang Time Square,an affordable and convenient base for exploring George Town historic core, shopping and food scene. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Colour My Heart Run program at Padang Kota Lama on 19 April 2015.


2016: APPLE 1 HOTEL, BAYAN LEPAS
A budget-friendly hotel located in the heart of Bayan Lepas, directly oppostie the Queensbay Mall. Its offers easy access to shopping, dining and other amenities.
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Bubble Dash Run program which took place in Bayan Lepas, Penang on 25 September 2016.


2017: BG BUSINESS HOTEL, BUKIT MERTAJAM
Located at Jalan Perniagaan, Jalan Perda Barat, Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang, close to local business hub and attractions like the Seberang Perasi Arean Conventon Center and Bandar Perda Food Retention Pond. 
We stayed at this hotel during a Health Program at Apartment Mutiara at Bandar Baru Perdaon 9 April 2017. 


Among the sweet experiences during my travels to Penang, I will never forget them.
