2000 - THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS, MALAYSIA

I worked with the Institution of Engineers Malaysia at the IEM Building located in Petaling Jaya from 1999 - 2011. I work as the IEM Secretariat responsible for conducting courses, seminars, conferences, and so on for IEM members. I have also been responsible for coordinating three technical divisions in IEM, namely The Mechanical Engineering Technical Division, Building Services Technical Division and Mineral Engineering Technical Division.
The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) is a professional learned society established in 1959. It is one of the largest professional organisations in the country, serving engineering across all disciplines.

Some of my memories from working with IEM from 1999 to 2011 are:

A jogging event was held for IEM members at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa on 26 March 2000. Running or jogging is one of the best cardio exercises you can do. Running at least 10 minutes a day can significantly lower your risk of cardiovascular disease. Runners lower their chances of dying from heart disease by half.

Taman Tasik Titiwangsa is one of Kuala Lumpur's most iconic and well-loved urban parks, serving as a "green lung" for the city. Located North east fringe of Kuala Lumpur city center. It was declared opened on February 1,1980.
Titiwangsa is the name of the main mountain range (Banjaran Titiwangsa) that forms the backbone of Peninsular Malaysia, and the name was chosen to reflect the greenery and natural scenery.

GEOSYNTHETIC ASIA 2000 CONFERENCE (GA 2000)
PALACE OF THE GOLDEN HORSES
SERI KEMBANGAN, SELANGOR
29-31 MAY 2000
Geosynthetic Asia 2000 Conference was held at The Palace of The Golden Horses Hotel at Seri Kembangan, Selangor to explores the appropriate use and beneficial impact of geosynthetics on civil infrastructure and sustainability through Asia.
The conference was part of the series of Asian Regional Conferences on Geosynthetics. One of the papers presented at the event was titled "Failure of A Reinforced Soil Wall on Piles" by Gue, S. S. & Chen, C. S., confirming the event's occurrence and the involvement of local geotechnical engineers.

The Palace of the Golden Horses is a majestic 5-star hotel often referred to as "Asia's Most Extraordinary Hotel."
The hotel is located in Mines Wellness City in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, about 15 minutes south of the Kuala Lumpur City Center.
The hotel is situated on a 150-acre man-made lake, which was formerly the site of the Hong Fatt Mine, once the largest opencast tin mine in the world. The area was transformed into Mines Resort City (now Mines Wellness City) for tourism and recreation.

This used to be the Mint Hotel, I stayed at the Mint Hotel in year 2000, located along the KL-Seremban Highway, close to the Mines Exhibition Centre and the Selangor Turf Club race course.
The hotel ceased operations in February 2005 due to financial difficulties and a defaulted loan. It was later auctioned and acquired by property tycoon Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew. The hotel underwent a major refurbishment and rebranding programme and is now known as the Nouvelle Hotel.

I checked in Google Maps that Hotel Mint has already closed its operations, not sure what year.
