PULAU PINANG : GEORGE TOWN & BAYAN LEPAS

 GEORGE TOWN, PULAU PINANG

George Town is the capital of the Malaysian State of Penang. Malaysia's second largest metropolitan area, the city established as an entrepot by Captain Francis Light in 1786. George Town serves as a commercial centre for the northern Malaysia. Once an important Straits of Malacca trading hub, the city is known for its British colonial building, chinese shophouses and mosques.

My memory in George Town is from 2015 when my colleagues and I conducted a health screening program at Kolej PTPL at Jalan Burma, Geoge Town and attending meeting at National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia at Jalan Bawasah, George Town, Pulau Pinang.

The original Chowrasta Market was built in 1890 within the settlement area of South Indian Immigrants. In Urdu, the market's name is translated into "four cross road".
Chowrasta Market sees a lively gathering of locals doing their daily purchasing of fresh product plus cheap and cheerful household items and clothing. It's a perfect place for visitors to get local souvenirs and preserved nutmegs for a considerably lower price than other tourist spots.

The 2016 Bubble Dash Run program in Penang was launched at Queensbay Mall, Bayan Lepas on 25 September 2016.
The travel distance from Kuala Lumpur to Bayan last is 352 km and the journey takes 3 hours 53 minutes.

While in Bayan Lepas we stayed at Apple 1 One Hotel in Persiaran Bayan Indah, Bayan Lepas, P. Pinang.
Apple 1 Hotel, a budget hotel which offers cheap and economical accommodation for everyone. For leisure travellers and those on business trips will experience and affordable yet comfortable stay at this hotel.
The hotel is situated in the heart of Bayan Lepas and within the integrated seafront township of Queensbay.

A popular choice for participants of the Bubble Dash Run 2016,primarily because of its unbeatable proximity to the starting line at Queensbay Mall.
Just across the road from Queensbay Mall, guests could simply walk to the event flag-off point. This was a huge advantage given the traffic and parking congestion typical of large runs in Bayan Lepas.

Bayan Lepas is a suburb of George Town in Penang. Located near the southeastern tip of Penang Island, 15 km south of the city centre, it is home to the Penang International Airport, the third busiest airport in Malaysia, as well as one of the oldest free industrial zone in the country.
