LUBOK CINA - MELAKA & NEGERI SEMBILAN

Lubok China is located in the Alor Gajah district of Melaka, bordering Negeri Sembilan. There are also several areas named Lubok China within Negeri Sembilan. The Sungai Rembau River, which runs through the region, is a common and easily recognizable landmark that separates the two states.

Lubok China is the hometown of both my parents. My mother is from Lubok China in Melaka, while my father is from Lubok China in Negeri Sembilan.

According to the stories from the elders, the name Lubok China originates from a Lubuk where it is said that several Chinese sailors drowned when their ship anchored in the area. Historically, Lubok China used to be a fairly busy port.

For fishing enthusiasts, Lubok China is a paradise, known for its 'udang galah' (giant river prawns) and a variety of freshwater fish.

NEGERI SEMBILAN - LINGGI

Linggi is a subdistrict in the Port Dickson district under the auspices of Luak Sungai Ujong. It borders Pasir Panjang, Pengkalan Kempas, Tanjung Agas and Teluk Kemang.

The name "Linggi" derived from a Bugis word, which means 'the stem or bow of a ship'.

Linggi can be reached by using the Pedas-Linggi Road or via Exit 223 on the North-South Highway. Linggi is actually not foreign to me because my hometown is not far from Linggi.

On February 5, 2015, I went to Linggi together with the Awareness Program Manager, Hj. Mohd Salehuddin Abdul Malek, and Mohd Syafiq Mahdza, attended the Program Coordination Meeting at the UMNO office in Linggi DUN.

The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Linggi is 99.1 km and takes 1 hour 16 minutes.

After the meeting, we took the opportunity to visit a historical place in Linggi located in Pengkalan Kempas.

PENGKALAN KEMPAS HISTORICAL COMPLEX
The Pengkalan Kempas Historical Complex is located about 35 km from the town of Port Dickson. It is a mysterious cemetery that uses megalithic stones in the shape of a sword and a ladle. Historians believe that this cemetery has existed since the 2nd or 3rd century AD.
Here is also the Keramat Sungai Udang which is the tomb of a religious figure named Sheikh Ahmad Majnun who opposed Sultan Mansur Shah Melaka (1457-1477). This tombstone is written in Arabic and Kawi (ancient Sumatran script).
There is no entry fee to the Pengkalan Kempas Historical Complex.

A Megalith stone thought to date drom the second or third century AD. The megaliths are known as 'Living Stones' and some of the town residents swear that they grow taller by one or two inches every year.

The Tomb of Sheikh Ahmad Majnun, a Muslim theologian and missionary who was believed to have been killed in a battle against Sultan Mansor Shaj of Malacca in 1476. It is one of the oldest tombs in Malaysia.

COMMUNITY PROGRAM
PUSAT INTERNET 1 MALAYSIA
LINGGI, N.S
15 MARCH 2015
On 15 March 2015, I was with the Awareness Team of the Malaysian Heart Foundation, involved in the Community Program at the 1 Malaysia Internet Centre in Linggi, N. Sembilan in collaboration with the Linggi Assemblyman and the Linggi UMNO Office. A total of 86 residents around Linggi underwent the Health Screening test that was conducted that day.

On the morning before the program, my friends and I had breakfast at a stall. Little did I know that the stall belonged to my cousin.
