Lubok China is located in the Alor Gajah district of Melaka, bordering Negeri Sembilan. There are also several areas named Lubok China within Negeri Sembilan. The Sungai Rembau River, which runs through the region, is a common and easily recognizable landmark that separates the two states.
Lubok China is the hometown of both my parents. My mother is from Lubok China in Melaka, while my father is from Lubok China in Negeri Sembilan.

According to the stories from the elders, the name Lubok China originates from a Lubuk where it is said that several Chinese sailors drowned when their ship anchored in the area. Historically, Lubok China used to be a fairly busy port.
For fishing enthusiasts, Lubok China is a paradise, known for its 'udang galah' (giant river prawns) and a variety of freshwater fish.

An artifact dating back 500 years (to roughly the early 1500s) would place its origin right around the fall of the Malacca Sultanate or the early arrival of the Portuguese and Dutch in the region.
Kampung Nerambai, Lubok China—is historically significant as it sits on the border of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, an area that served as a major inland artery for trade and military movement via the Linggi River.
A cannon from the early 16th century is rare. At that time, cannons (locally known as lela or rentaka) were symbols of prestige, authority, and "daulat" (sovereignty). Many were cast locally using Malay bronze-casting techniques, while others were acquired through trade with Portuguese or Ottoman sources.
This cannon is a legacy of our ancestors, namely Datuk Shahbandar Mohd Seth. The title Shahbandar (Harbour Master) was one of the most powerful positions in the traditional Malay administrative system, responsible for managing trade, collecting taxes, and overseeing the security of waterways. Given that Lubok China is near the Linggi River, our ancestor would have held immense strategic authority over the flow of goods into the interior of Negeri Sembilan.
