MEMORIES NEVER FADE

Famous song by Andy Williams "Love Story" comes to my mind....

There's no beginning and no ending, only patches of faded memory.....
I have had a good times and not-so-good ones in sea services....
People said Sailors never die, they dive away...we had plenty of memorable times in the Navy...
Someone once asked me when he knew I was a navy veteran...
What is your most memorable moment when you served onbard Navy Ships traveling the vast ocean...
For me for 16 years, it would be hard to tell you the memorable moment...but the best moment of course going places that I would never get it a chance going to on my own.... spending a months at the sea, sails to several countries (some more than once).... I've had many, many 'best experiences' which not everyone can feel it....so to pick out ONE would be very difficult....it was all the best moment...all the most memorable moment...seeing foreign countries without spending a lot of money...
By the way do you know why NAVY is called NAVY?
The word "NAVY" came via old French Navie "fleet of ships"from the Latin navigium, "a vessel, a ship, bark, boat", from navis, "ship". The word "naval" came from Latin navalis, "pertaining to ship".

SWEET MEMORIES - LIFE AT SEA
Seafarers shared many common experiences...life at sea filled with hardship, facing the daily dangers of sea and weather...
A seaman life was hard, had to be tough to survive...however it is a great lifestyle if you are suited to it...
This was just my experience, for others it will surely have been different.

Easy like Sunday morning....
The best memories of our life can never be captured in pictures, they are always captured by heart....

Every adventure grants you a 'book' of stories and memories.....
Sometimes, words aren't just enough to describe what you've been through....
We also tell our stories so that others could take their own adventures and go through what we’ve been through ourselves — by then, they will fully understand what we meant.
Hellen Keller quotes on daring adventures is one of the top travel quotes that I lived by in the past years...After all, we only have one short precious life… so why not just make the most of it?
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.“
– Helen Keller

SOME MEMORIES CAN NEVER BE REPLACED......

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a memory is priceless...
Because things end but memories last forever...
Sometimes you don't realize how good the good old days were until they're gone.....

You will never know how the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory....

SOME MEMORIES NEVER FADE.....
picture never change, only the people in that picture changes...
A piece of photo have a thousand meanings

I ALWAYS MISS THE OLD DAY.... THOSE WERE THE DAYS...

As I reminisce about the days gone by, a flood of cherised memories from our times at High School Setapak, K.L (1974-1978) fills my heart with nostalgia... this is the photo of the last day at school....Those school years helped us to become who we are today....

You can't describe your best friends in words. You can describe them with memories that you had with them.
Do you know that "happy memories are essential to our mental health.."
- Meik Wiking in "The Art of Making Memories"..
Happy memories are important ingredient in present happiness...

Recounting memories can guide our actions and can assist us in bonding with others....

Memories are always special,
Sometimes We laugh by remembering the days we cried.
And sometimes we cry by remembering the days We laughed.
Good times become good memories and bad times become good lessons.

Most of our childhood memories are veiled in the mist of the past.
How far back can you recall?
What was that very first memory of yourself when you were just a little kid that you still remember today?

History is repeating itself......
As memory fades, events from the past can become events of the present....
People always forget about history.... many don’t realize is that it is already happening again.

MEMORIES NEVER FADE

REMEMBERING TAN SRI MUBIN SHEPPARD

Tan Sri Mubin Sheppard, or his full name Abdul Mubin Mervyn Cecil Frank Sheppard, was the first Director of the National Museum (1959-1963) and was also the Chairman of the Selangor branch of the Malaysian Veterans Association , where my late father was his secretary.
A very kind and friendly person, when I was little, my late father used to take me to the PBPM Office when Tan Sri Mubin was in the office. He gave me sweets and bread, as well as water and money—a very caring person for children.

Al-Fatihah for my late father and the late Tan Sri Mubin Sheppard. Regarding the deceased that I quoted from the Malaysian Heritage Agency website...

Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Haji Mubin Sheppard was a prominent figure in the conservation and preservation of historical buildings in Malaysia. Born in Ireland in 1905, he arrived in Malaya in 1928 and served in the Malayan Civil Service until 1963. His passion for history and Malayan heritage was evident through his numerous publications, his roles as Editor and President of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, Museum Director, and founder of the Malayan Historical Society in 1953. Tan Sri Mubin played a crucial role in establishing Badan Warisan Malaysia in 1983, advocating tirelessly for the conservation of Malaysia’s built heritage. The Mubin Sheppard Memorial Prize, established by Badan Warisan Malaysia, aims to raise awareness among younger generations about Malaysia’s architectural heritage.
Thirty years after his passing, Sr. Dr. Zuraini Md Ali honors his legacy by sharing her insights on Tan Sri Mubin’s relentless efforts and significant contributions to heritage conservation from the 1950s until his death on 11 September 1994 and his legacy.
