HOTEL MEMORIES (SABAH & SARAWAK)

SABAH
1997: TM RESORT, KUNDASANG, SABAH
Also known as Sri Intan Resort, located at Jalan Kundasang Kauluan, near the Kundasang Mosque and offers panoramic view of Mount Kinabalu. It is owned by TM Malaysia (Telekom).
It features a restaurant, a rabbit house for children and offers rooms with balconies. Guests can choose between hotel-style rooms and chalets, with chalets often being recommended for their coziness and large balconies. 
My family and I went on holiday to Kota Kinabalu at our brother's house in Graceville, Kota Kinabalu. We spend a night at TM Resort (Sri Intan Resort) near the Kundasang Mosque, situated on the hills, a few minutes walks to Pekan Kundasang. 



2013: BEST WESTERN KINABALU DAYA HOTEL, KOTA KINABALU
A 3-star hotel, value for money hotel known primarily for its strategic location in the heart of Kota Kinabalu's commercial district.
The hotel was centrally located on Jalan Pantai, within walking distance of popular attractions like the Gaya Street Market, the waterfront, Wisma Merdeka, Suria Sabah Mall (which was still under development), and numerous restaurants and eateries. Its location was consistently praised as superb.
I stayed at this hotel during the Sabah Heart Week 2013 program which was held at the Suria Sabah Shopping Complex from 17-22 August 2013.


2013: HOTEL SEASON 2, KOTA MARUDU, SABAH
A specific, established local business hotel located at Jalan Lotong, Kota Marudu, Sabah. 
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Health Screening program at the Kota Marudu Community Hall on 24-25 August 2013.


SARAWAK
2012: HOTEL GLORY INN, BINTULU, SARAWAK
This hotel located at Parkcity Commerce Square, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi, Bintulu, Sarawak. It is situated in the Bintulu city cener area, close to amenities such as the Park City Mall and various shops and restaurants.
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues during the Sarawak Heart Week 2012 program held at Park City Mall, Bintulu, Sarawak from 18-20 May 2012.

HOTEL MEMORIES (MELAKA)

1998: MALACCA PARADISE VILLAGE, AYER KEROH, MELAKA
Also known as Paradise Malacca Village Resort was a popular destination for family vacations in the late 1990s. It was situated in Ayer Keroh, conveniently near a vibrant tapestry of attractions, including the Melaka Zoo, Mini Malaysia & ASEAN Cultural Park and Ayer Keroh Lake, making it an ideal base for families exploring the area. My family and I stayed at this resort in 1998 on a family vacation.
Unfortunately, this resort in now closed and has been abandoned for more than 20 years. Some visitors describing it as a spooky or haunted due to briken furniture and overgrown areas.


MALACCA PARADISE VILLAGE TODAY

2000: MAHKOTA CENTURY CENTURY HOTEL, MELAKA
The Brainstoring Session of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia was held at the Hotel Mahkota Century Hotel on 12 March 2000. 
The Mahkota Century Hotel (now known as Mahkota Hotel Melaka or Century Mahkota Apartments) is located on the waterfront in the heart of Melaka, near popular shopping complexes and historical sites. It is adjacent to the Mahkota Parade and the Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, and within a walking distance of historical sites like the A Famosa fort and the Stadyhuys.


2008: AYER KEROH D'VILLAGE RESORT, MELAKA
My family vacation at the Ayer Keroh D'Village Resort in May 2008. It was a budget-family option in Ayer Keroh, known for its strategic location key attractions like the Zoo Melaka and Crocodile Park. The resort offered family rooms and a swimming pool. 


2012: HANG TUAH CITY HOTEL, BUKIT BARU, MELAKA
I stayed at this hotel with my YJM colleagues during the Melaka Heart Week 2012 program held at AEON Bandaraya Melaka from 23-28 March 2012.
The hotel is located at Taman Malinja, Bukit Baru, Melaka, previously known as Straits Meridian Hotel. This hotel is located within a 10-minutes drive of major Melaka attractions like Jonker Walk and Mahkota Parade. 
This hotel today in 2025 is no longer operating, it has now rebranded to the Collection O Hotel Supercowboy.

2013: THE EMPEROR HOTEL MALACCA
On our way back to Kuala Lumpur from the Health program in Masai and Johor Bahru, my team and I stopped over in Melaka for the night. We stayed at the Emperor Hotel located on Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Melaka 18 April 2013. 
Locate at Jalan Munshi Abdullah, The Emperor Hotel was known as one of the tallest buildings in Melaka at the time and was located close to major tourist attractions like Jonker Street.
The hotel operated for many years until it announced its closure in May 2020 due to the finalcial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

2015: D'IMPIANA HOMESTAY, ALOR GAJAH, MELAKA
The Health Screening Program at the Malaysian Agroscience University College in Alor Gajah Melaka was held on 5 November 2015. During the Program we stayed at D'Impiana Homestay in Alor Gajah Melaka.
The Homestay located at Taman Seri Bayu, Alor Gajah, Melaka, a 3-bedroom house with 2 private bathrooms,able to accommocate multiple guests.


2016: GARDEN CITY STRAITS CONDOMINIUMS, MELAKA
On a family vacation in 2016, we stayed at Garden City Straits Condominiums located on Jalan Merdeka, Melaka. Its offered various amenities for families, featured a pool area with a children's wading pool and a slide. 
Key Nearby attractions are the Mahkota Parade shopping Malls, the historical sites including Dutch Square, Stadthuys, A Famosa Fort and Jonker Street Night Market. 



These are some of the memories of hotels in Melaka that I once rented. Melaka is a very interesting holiday destination and there are many places to visit while on holiday with the family.

HOTEL MEMORIES (KELANTAN & PERLIS)

KELANTAN
2012: DYNASTY INN, KOTA BHARU, KELANTAN
Dynasty Inn Kota Bharu, Kelantan is located in Kota Bharu City Centre. Among the popular attractions near the Dynasty Inn in Kota Bharu, Kelantan are the Siti Khadijah Market, Istana Jahar (Museum), Padang Merdeka, a historical city square etc.
The is another property nearby called Dynasty Inn - Wakaf Che Yeh, which is a separate hotel located about 10-15 minutes drive outside the city center.
My colleagues and I stayed at Dynasty Inn during a health program at the Rukun Tetangga Hall in Ketereh, Kota Bharu in 2012 and a program at the MARA Poly-Tech College, Kota Bharu in 2016.


2018: DIAMOND HOTEL, KOTA BHARU, KELANTAN
Located at Wisma Koop Guru, Jalan Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, just right in the Kota Bharu City Center area, close to landmarks like Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium, Chinatown and the Siti Khadijah Market. 
The Hotel is still operating today (in 2025), listed as OYO 1151 Diamond Hotel now. 
My colleagues and I stayed at this hotel during the Health Screening program at the Sultan Mansor Mosque, Kota Bharu and also at the MARA Poly-Tech College in Kota Bharu, in 2018.


PERLIS
2017 : FEDERAL HOTEL, KANGAR, PERLIS
Situated in the city center, it offers easy access to local shops, eateries and the Masjid Alwi. A budget-friendly option in the heart of Kangar.
I stayed at this hotel with my colleagues when we held a health screening program at Arau Community College on 16 February 2017 and also at Kampung Guar Lepai on 18 February 2017.

HOTEL MEMORIES (KEDAH)

2012: HOTEL SERI MALAYSIA, ALOR SETAR, KEDAH
Alor Setar Heart Week 2012 took place at the Star Parade Shopping Complex in Alor Setar from 3-8 July 2012.
Throughout the program, my colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation and I stayed at the Seri Malaysia Hotel in Alor Setar. The hotel located in the heart of Alor Setar, strategically positioned near the State Stadium Complex. An affordable, budget-friendly accomodation option for travelers. 
The hotel owned by the state government and is part of a national chain offering  accesible lodging. The hotel was located central to Alor Setar town, with easy access to attractions like the Sultan Abdul Halim Gallery. Masjid Zahir, Alor Setar Tower, the birthplace of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the Balai Nobat etc. 


2012/2013: TERAP INN,KUALA NERANG, KEDAH
Terap Inn is a hotel located in Kuala Nerang, Kedah. It is owned by the Padang Terap District Council. 
The Inn is currently known as OYO 44033 Terap Inn Kuala Nerang and offers standar hotel amenities. 
My colleagues and I stayed at this hotel during the Health Screening Program organized by the Malaysian Heart Foundation at the UMNO Hall in Kuala Nerang, Kedah on 22 September 2012. The following year on 2013, we stayed at this same hotel for our program at FELDA Lubok Merbau on 5 January 2013 and Dewan Orang ramai at Naka, Kedah on 6 January 2013.  


2013: D'AMAN HOMESTAY, GUAR CHEMPEDAK, KEDAH
During the Health Screening program at SMK Agama Yan in Yan, Kedah on 7-8 January 2013, we stayed at D'Aman Homestay, Taman Desa Aman located in Guar Chempedak, Kedah which is owned by one of the teachers at SMK Agama Yan.


2013: KULIM INN, BANDAR KULIM, KEDAH
Kulim Inn is situated on Jalan Bukit Alwi in Bandar Kulim in Kulim, Kedah, a strategic location near the town center. 
Highlighted for having an outdoor swimming pool and ample parking. My colleagues from YJM and I stayed at Kulim Inn during the Health Screening Program held at SMJK Chio Min, Kulim, Kedah on 29 December 2013.
Today it is known as OYO 89486 Kulim Inn, managed under the OYO budget hotel brand. 


2014 / 2017: D'VISTA HOTEL, SUNGAI PETANI, KEDAH
My colleagues from YJM and I stayed at D'Vista Hotel in Sungai Petani during our Health Programme held at Central Square Sungai Petani (2014) and at MSU College Sungai Petani (2017).
Today, D'Vista Hotel at Sungai Petani has been rebranded as Merilton Hotel.

HOTEL MEMORIES (JOHOR)

2012 : CHECK IN HOTEL, JOHOR BHARU
Located at 33, Jalan Harmonium 33/1, Taman Desa Tebrau, Johor Bahru, is a budget 1-star friendly hotel. Located within a walking distance to AEON Tebrau City and the Toppen Shopping Centre. The Austin Heights Water & Adventure Park is also just a short drive away. 
I stayed at this hotel while coordinating the Health Checkup Campaign at AEON Tebrau City Johor Bahru from 21-26 February 2012.


2012: CHINATOWN HOTEL, KLUANG, JOHOR
Located at Jalan Lambak, Kampung Masjid Lama, Kluang, Johor. Situated 0.65 km from central Kluang and is near local amenities including a 7-eleben store next door. 
My colleagues and I stayed at this hotel during a health program at SJK (Chinese) Chong Hwa II, Kluang on 9 June 2012.


2013: EXTREME BOUTIQUE HOTEL, KLUANG, JOHOR
This Hotel located at 2, Jalan Intan 1/1, Taman Kluang Jaya, Kluang, Johor was originally built in 1993. Among the hotel facilities is free Wi-Fimfree-parking, 24-hour front desk etc.Among nearby attraction are Gunung Lambak, a popular hiking site, Zenxin Organic Park,Taman Tasik MP Kluang and Kluang Mall.Not to forget the famous Kluang Rail Coffee, a historic coffee shop located at the train station, famous for its traditional Hainanese coffee and charcoal-grilled toast. 
My colleagues and I stayed at this hotel during the Kluang Heart Week 2013 program which was held at Kluang Mall from 8 to 10 November 2013.


2013: HOTEL CIQ, JOHOR BAHRU
During the Health Screening program at Sultan Abu Bakar College Johor Bahru from 16-17 April 2013, my team and I stayed at CIQ Hotel located at No. 54, Jalan Lumba Kuda, Tanjung Puteri, Johor Bahru which is approximately 5.7 km from Sultan Abu Bakar College.
However to this day (December 2025) the Hotel in Jalan Lumba Kuda, is no longer in business. The CIQ Hotel maintained 2 other branch at Jalan Trus and Jalan Wong Ah Fook in Johor Bahru. 


2013: PPT MUAR HOTEL
During the program at MARA Junior Science College, Muar, Johor, (MRSM Muar) on 22 October 2013, my team and I stayed at the PPT Muar Hotel located at No.41-3, Jalan Bakri, Taman Orkid, Muar, Johor.
The Hotel was opened in January 2013,offers both standar hotel rooms and unique rooms converted from shipping container. It had already celebrated its 10th anniversary in 19 January 2023. 


2013: PRINCETON HOTEL, BUKIT INDAH, JOHOR BAHRU
During the Johor Heart Week Program 2013 held at AEON Bukit Indah, Johor Bahru from 7-9 June 2013, my colleagues and I stayed at the Princeton Hotel located at No. 47, Jalan 15/2, in Bukit Indah, Johor, Bahru, Johor.
The Hotel which is now (in 2025) known as Hotel Zamburger Bukit Indah, is situated near the AEON Mall Bukit Indah and Lotus Hypermarket (previously TESCO), making it a convenient location for shopping and dining. 


2013: T.S. HOTEL, TAMAN RINTING, MASAI, JOHOR
Memories of staying at T.S.Hotel located in Taman Rinting, Masai, Johor during our Yayasan Jantung Malaysia Health program at the Taman Rinting JKKK Hall on 14 April 2013.
This budget hotel is still operation as of December 2025. Local attraction nearby the hotel include the Jalan Beringin Recreation Park, Mydin Mall is located nearby plus the Pasar Borneo Johor, a local flea and street market. 


2014: B.P HOTEL, BATU PAHAT, JOHOR
On 24.9.2014, Hj Salehuddin Malik, the Program Manager and I attended a meeting at the Kolej Poly-Tech MARA in Batu Pahat, Johor. KPTM Batu Pahat is located at the Tabung Haji Building on Jalan Timah Sari, Batu Pahat. 
We stayed at BP Hotel (also known as Batu Pahat Hotel), located at Jalan Jenang, Kampung Pegawai, Batu Pahat, Johor. The Hotel is very close to the Bus Station, with restaurants all around. 


2014: MEGA 68 HOTEL, KLUANG, JOHOR
My colleague and I stayed at Mega 68 Hotel in Kluang, Johor during the Health Screening program held at SJK (Cina) Kahang, Johor. Located approximately 36.6 km from our hotel.
The hotel is located at Taman Perniagaan Tasik at Kluang, Johor. The location offered easy access to nearby attractions like the Kluang Coffee Powder Factory and Ampang Superbowl Kluang Mall. 
However, Hotel Mega 68 is now operating as the Melody Inn Hotel. 


2014: HOTEL PONTIAN, PONTIAN, JOHOR
My colleagues from the Malaysian Heart Foundation and I stayed at the Pontian Hotel located in the Pusat Perdagangan Pontian during the Community Level Health Screening Programme held at SJK (Chinese) Cheow Min in Pontian, Johor on 6 September 2014. 
The hotel nearby the Giant Supermarket, various restaurants and within walking distance of the Pontian New Express Bus Station and the Rocky Beach.The seafront was just a short walk away and considered conveniently due the nearby amenities like fast food outlets and local eateriws. 


2016: ROOMS BOUTIQUE HOTEL, TAMAN JOHOR JAYA, JOHOR BAHRU
My colleagues and I from the Malaysian Heart Foundation stayed at Rooms Boutique Hotel, located in Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru during the Community Level Health Screening Program held in Taman Plentong Utama, Johor on 15 October 2016.
This hotel opened its doors in 2011, a budget-friendly hotel with a unique, colorful decor and affordable prices. 
The Hotel, now referred to as Hotel O Rooms Boutique Hotel on booking sites, remains open and accepts reservations. 


2016 & 2018: HOTEL VISTARIA, TAMAN MOUNT AUSTIN,JOHOR BAHRU
The Health Screening Program at Sunway College Johor Bahru on 20 April 2016 and 11 March 2018.
Sunway College Johor Bahru is located behind the hotel we stayed at in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru.
The Vistaria Hotel, located at No. 1 & 3, Jalan Austin Heights 3, Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, is situated in an entertainment neighborhood, with various amenities like restaurants, cafes and convenient stores within walking distance. It location offers easy access to major locations such as Sunway College JB and AEON Mall Tebrau City.

2017 : ERICA HOTEL, TANJUNG PUTERI, JOHOR BAHRU
It is a 3-star hotel located in the Tanjung Puteri neighborhood of Johor Bahru,and is still operating today (2025). 
I stayed at this hotel together with my two sisters on our way to Singapore to visit our uncle who is not very healthy and elderly. He stayed at Clementi Avenue in Singapore. 
This hotel is approximately 3 km away from JB City Square, the Komtar JBCC mall and the JB Sentral Train Station. 


2017: PRINCE 33 HOTEL, JOHOR BAHRU
In 2017, for the Health Screening Program at Sunway College JB, this time I changed my mind and stayed at Prince 33 Hotel not far from Vistaria Hotel which we always rent for every program at Sunway College JB.
This hotel located at Jalan Austin Heights 8/2, Taman Mount Austin, adjacent to and Old Town Grand Restaurant. 


2017 & 2018: LAVENDER INN, PERMAS JAYA, JOHOR
The hotel where my colleagues and I stayed during the Heart Week program held at AEON Mall Permas Jaya in 2017 & 2018.
This hotel open in 2009, was in a strategic location, within walking distance to the AEON Mall Permas Jaya and surrounded by various eateries and shops.

2001 - 2005: THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS, MALAYSIA

Long-lasting memories of working with the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, from 2001 to 2005.

GENTING VIEW RESORT
GENTING HIGHLAND, PAHANG
18 FEBRUARY 2001
On 18 February 2001 I attended a meeting at Genting View Resort located in Genting Highland, Pahang.

The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Genting View Resort is 43 minutes and the travel distance is 40.9 km.

Genting Highland is a hill station located on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali in the Titiwangsa Mountains, central Peninsular Malaysia. 
Genting Highland was established in 1965 by the late Malaysian businessman Lim Goh Tong. 


Surrounded by lush green rainforest, Genting View Resort is strategically placed on the midland of Genting Highlands. 
Located above at a 900m altitude high on the West Malaysia's Main Range, the resort offers a lovely cool mountain breeze with fresh air in abundance featuring a tranquil environment for  serene stay. 








The swimming pool area and a children's playground with a tree-house slide, set against the backdrop of the hilly, forested landscape and the resort buildings.

The 42nd Annual Dinner of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur City Centre on 12 April 2001.
The Guest of Honour present at this Dinner was Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, then Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.



The multi-award winning Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur lies adjacent to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, within easy reach of all that the city has to offer. Opened in October 1998, is a prestigious 5-star hotel that offers a luxury amenities including a refreshing pool with stunning views, steam room, and complimentary wireless internet access in the comfortable, air-conditioned rooms.

43rd IEM Annual Dinner

The 43rd Annual Dinner of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia was held at the Istana Hotel on Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.




The Istana Hotel situated in the city's pretigious Golden Triangle, began operation in 1992. It featured 500 rooms, located at 73, Jalan Raja Chulan, close to key city landmarks like the KL Tower and a few minutes from major shopping malls.

Unfortunately, the Istana Hotel ceased operations permanently on 1 September 2021, after 30 years in business.It was one of the hotels that closed due to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was later acquired by Tradewinds Corporation Berhad and is currently being transformed Waldorf Astoria in Malaysia open aroung 2024. 


ISO TRAINING

AWANA GOLF & COUNTRY RESORT

Awana Golf & Country Resort is a hotel in BentongPahang. Awana Golf & Country Resort is situated within Gohtong Jaya, nearby to the shopping centre Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, as well as near the bus station Awana Sky Central.





The Awana Golf and Country Resort is now known as Resort World Awana and has evolve into a nature-inspired resort destination within the Genting Highlands complex. It is currently rated 4 out of 5 stars. 




ISO Training course organized by The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), held at the Awana Golf & Country Resort (now Resorts World Awana) from May 25-27, 2002.
The training was most likely focused on the then-current version of the ISO 9000 series of standards, particularly ISO 9001, which deals with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
ISO standards are a set of international criteria for quality, safety, efficiency, and other management systems, and training is essential for implementation and certification. 

45th IEM Annual Dinner

The 45th Annual Dinner of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia was held at the Palace of The Golden Horses in Seri Kembangan, Selangor on 17 April 2004.
The Guest of Honour present at this Dinner was Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, then Prime Minister of Malaysia.



The Hotel was tagged as "Asia's Most Extraordinary Hotel", is a world-class, award-winning, luxury hotel located within the iconic MINES Wellness City, a 15 minutes away from the heart of Kuala Lumpur city and 35 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). 
The hotel offers unrivalled conference space with a total of 15 meeting rooms, a theatrette and two ballrooms.

46th IEM Annual Dinner

The 46th Annual Dinner of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia was held at the Sunway Pyramid Convention in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor on 16 April 2005.
The dinner was graced with presence of the Guest of Honour, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Y.B. Dato'Sri Ir. Dr. Jamaluddin bin Dato' Jarjis. 


The distinctive architecture of the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall complex, including the large Lion Head entrance and the adjacent hotel tower. 

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, specifically the large surf beach pool and surrounding structures. 

Since it first opened its door in 1997, Sunway Pyramid, Malaysia's first themed shopping and entertainment mall has undergone a magnificent transformation to herald a new shopping kingdom. 
The Sunway Convention Centre is now known as the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre. It remains a key venue for convention, exhibitions and major events in the Sunway Complex in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
