Kulim is an ever-developing district where Kulim Hi-Tech Park, the first high technology industrial park in Malaysia, was established in 1996. The name Kulim is derived from the Kulim tree. Kulim is the third-largest town in Kedah after Alor Setar and Sungai Petani.

My first time setting foot in Kulim, Kedah was in 2013 while working with the Heart Foundation of Malaysia. I was involved in the Health Screening Program at SMJK Chio Min, Kulim, Kedah on December 29, 2013.

The travel distance from Kuala Lumpur to Kulim, Kedah, is 366 km, with a travel time of 4 hours and 43 minutes.

SMJK CHIO MIN, KULIM, KEDAH
SMJK Chio Min was established in 1957 as a continuation of Chio Min Primary School, which was founded on May 10, 1918. In 1942, Chio Min School was forced to close due to the Japanese invasion, but it reopened in 1945.

KULIM INN
Throughout the health program we have stayed at the Kulim Inn located on Jalan Bukit Awi, Kulim, Kedah.
Back in 2013, Kulim Inn was primarily known as a government-owned rest house (Rumah Rehat) managed by the local council (Majlis Perbandaran Kulim). It was often the go-to spot for government officials, visiting families, and students due to its strategic location on Jalan Bukit AwiKulim Inn is now Hotel O Kulim Inn (part of the OYO Network).
