MIQAT : QARN AL MANAZIL
Miqat is a principal boundary at which Muslim pilgrims intending to perform the Hajj or Umrah must enter the state of Ihram. The meaning of Miqat is the provision of place or time to intend Ihram or Umrah. It is the boundary of Halal Land and Haram Land determined by Rasulullah s.a.w. The intention of Ihram in Miqat is one of the obligatory Hajj. When crossing the miqat, Hajj pilgrims need to wear ihram cloth and make intentions. Everyone who goes to Mecca with the purpose of Hajj or Umrah must put on ihram with the intention and be fined if they violate the miqat. Miqat is used for Hajj and Umrah.
Qarn al-Manazil serves as a Miqat for the people of Najd and for those from cities such as Ta’if and Riyadh. It is also a Miqat for individuals travelling from Gulf Countries such as the U.A.E and for pilgrims from further afield such as Pakistan, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore etc.
We intend miqat when the plane crosses Qarn Al Manazil, a hill on the east side located about 94 km from Mecca or about half an hour before the plane lands in Jeddah (if by plane). Usually, it is announced in the plane. Pilgrims will usually wear it early from home before boarding the plane. This miqat is for pilgrims who continue to Mecca after landing in Jeddah.

Clik the link below if you want to know more about miqat:

ENTER THE STATE OF IHRAM
For men, this means wearing the designated white cloth with one piece wrapped around your shoulder and one around your waist (2 piece of white cloth). Ladies may wear any cloth of their choice but should ensure they observe the rules of Hijab. Face covering are not permitted. Fully covering shoes are also not permitted. Footwear must be in form of sandals for both women and men.
Whilst in the state of Ihram , we should also be particularly mindful of our behaviour and words. We should avoid smoking, engaging in sexual relations, swearing, shaving our hair, and cutting our nails. We must also not use perfume or scented soaps.

THREE TYPES OF HAJJ
HAJJ AL-TAMATTUK

The rites fo the Hajj are believed not only to follow the model of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but also to retrace events from the lives of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) and his son Ismail (PBUH). Pilgrims can choose to take on any of the three Hajj that is more feasible  to them.

1. Hajj al-Tamattuk : the most common type of Hajj Pilgrimage. Its entail performing Umrah rituals during the Hajj season and then completing the steps to Hajj between the 8th and 13th day of Dzulhijjah. Pilgrims intending to undertake Hajj al-Tamattuk must combine Umrah rituals with that of Hajj. Sacrificing  and animal is required in order to complete this form of Hajj. A pilgrim who take this type of Hajj is called Mutamatti.
2. Hajj al-Ifrad : to perform the rituals of Hajj alone without sacrificing and animal (Hadee) or Qurbani. A pilgrim who undertake this type of Hajj is called Mufrid
3. Hajj al-Qiran: To perform both Hajj and Umrah while being in the state of Ihram. This form requires sacrificing and animal to complete the rituals. A pilgrims who undertake this type of Hajj is called Qaarin

My wife and I have agreed to perform Hajj al-Tamattuk, which means performing Umrah first in the month of Hajj before performing Hajj. This means that my wife and I will perform Umrah first when we arrive in Mecca in the month of Hajj before Wuquf in Arafah.
Hady also known as Damm-al-Shukr, is animal sacrifice carried by pilgrims on the 10 th Dzulhijjah. It is wajib for those performing Hajj al-Tammatuk and Hajj Al-Qiran.
I made the payment for Hajj Tamattuk on August 26, 2017, at the Finance Counter, Hotel Abraj Al Janadiriyyah, for me and my wife. The total amount paid was Saudi Riyal 880.00 (SR440.00 per person).

Hajj Ifrad, Hajj Tamattuk, and Hajj Qiran are manasik or methods used during Hajj. Pilgrims should plan in advance which method they want to use.

The best Hajj is Hajj Ifrad because it does not mix Hajj with Umrah. In Hajj Ifrad, we perform Hajj worship first. After finishing it, we focus our worship on Umrah worship.

However, for those who do not have the opportunity to do Hajj Ifrad, then the best option for them is Hajj Tamattuk or Hajj Qiran.

To understand more about these types of Hajj, it is good to refer to websites about Hajj or even books about Hajj that explain more about these types of Hajj.

ARRIVED AT KING ABDUL AZIZ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA (24 AUGUST 2017)
The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah took about 8 hours, and we landed safely at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah at about 11.00 pm. Visiting Jeddah feels like returning to your hometown, reconnecting with your roots, and meeting a community of people who share the same religion. This is because Jeddah is home to Siti Hawa, the first woman created by God in the world.

JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA
Jeddah is a port city in Mecca Province, Saudi Arabia, located along the Red Sea coast in the Hejaz region, Jeddah is the commercial centre of the country.
Jeddah in Arabic means grandmother, referring to Eve, the spouse of Prophet Adam who is said to have been revealed by God in Jeddah, reunited in a historic moment at Jabal Rahmah, Padang Arafah. According to the folk belief, the Tomb of Eve (Siti Hawa), considered the grandmother of humanity, is located in Jeddah.

Jeddah is the gateway to Al-Haramain, which is the holy city of Makkah and Medina. The path to the Holy Land is a reminder of the return because it is the path that our ancestor Eve once took to find her lover Prophet Adam a.s.
This route is also the route of prominent preachers and traders once upon a time, such as Abu Musa Al-Asyaari, Ziyad bin Lubaid, and Muaz bin Jabal.
Today, the pilgrims will go through the same path that our great leader Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. and His Companions and preachers, commute to fulfill God's call.

The Red Sea contains some of the world's hottest and saltiest seawater. With its connection to the Mediterranean Sea via the Suez Canal, it is one of the most heavily traveled waterways in the world, carrying maritime traffic between Europe and Asia.
The Red Sea was mentioned in the Quran in Surah Ash-Shu'ara : 63 :
"So, we inspired Moses (Musa). Strike the sea with your staff, and the sea was split, each part was like a huge mountain."

God Command Musa (Moses) to strike the Red Sea with his staff, instructing them not to fear being inundated or drowning in the sea water.

HARAM BOUNDARY
The Haram is the sacred boundary of Mecca whithin which certain certain acts are considered unlawful which maybe lawful elsewhere. It is prohibited to hunt wild animals, damage any plants or tree, graze animals, carry weapons, fight or behave in a manner that will violate the sanctity of Masjidil Haram. If a violation is carried out within the precint of the Haram, Damm or Sadaqah is required as expiation.
The boundaries of Haram are:
1. Taneem - Masjid Aisha, also known as Masjid Taneem, located about 8 km from the Kaaba and 5 km away from Makkah, in the direction of Madinah.
2. Adaat Laban - On the road to Yemen, 11 km away from Makkah.
3. Wadi Nakhla - On the road to Iraq, 11 km away from Makkah.
4. Arafat - on the road to Ta'if,  close to Masjid al-Namirah in Arafat, 11 km away from Makkah.
5. Ji'ranah - Masjid al-Ji'ranah , located about 14 km away from Makkah
6. Hudaibiyah - Masjid al-Hudaibiyah, on the road to Jeddah, about 16 km away from Makkah.

From King Abdul Aziz International Airport, we were taken by bus to our respective hotels. My wife and I, in the Maktab 87 group, were accommodated at Abraj Al Janadiriyyah Hotel, which is located approximately 700 meters from Masjidilharam.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that a veteran pilgrim named Hamzah bin Hashim had died in his room at 5am (Saudi Arabia time) after only a day of arriving in Mecca. He died in his sleep and was still dressed in ihram. The body was prayed for at Masjidilharam by Tabung Haji in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Government. AL FATIHAH for the late Hamzah bin Hashim.
