For three consecutive years (2016-2018), the Awareness Team of Yayasan Jantung Malaysia and I have held a Health Screening Test at Sunway College Johor Bahru, located in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, Johor.

We continued our journey from Seremban 2 to Johor Bahru after completing the School Level program at SMK Seremban 2 on 19 April 2016. The journey of 272 km took 2 hours 54 min.

Luck was not on our side that day because our van broke down near the Alor Gajah Exit. We had to call PLUS Highway for towing assistance. We had to repair our van at a workshop in Alor Gajah, Melaka. Once repaired, we continued our journey to Johor Bahru.

My friends and I stayed at Vistaria Hotel located in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, Johor. This hotel is located behind the Sunway College Johor Bahru.

Sunway College Johor Bahru, which is part of Sunway Education Group established its presence in 2004, operating from a temporary city campus before moving to its purpose-built campus at Mount Austin in 2005. 

The College is dedicated to providing quality higher education through a positive student experience. This is achieved via a network of services to complement the student's learning experience which includes out-of-class activities, field trips, study skills to suppor learning, guidance on university application, internship and graduate work placement. 

The Health Screening Program at Sunway College Johor Bahru on 20 April 2016 was attended by a total of 137 students and College staff.

While in Johor Bahru I had the opportunity to meet up with an old friends in the navy from my Intake 139/80 near the hotel I stayed at Hotel Vistaria in Jalan Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, Johor.

The Health Screening Program at Sunway College Johor Bahru in 2017 took place on 8 February 2017. A total of 116 students, staff and lecturers attended the Health Screening test that day.

In 2017 I stayed at Prince 33 Hotel located at Jalan Austin Heights, Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, Johor.

The day before the program started, which was on 7 February 2017, my friends and I stopped by AEON Tebrau City, Johor Bahru to explore the possibility of holding a health program here in the future.

The Health Screening Program take place at Sunway College Johor Bahru on 11 March 2018 from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

We stayed at Vistaria Hotel which is located behind Sunway College JB, just a walking distance away.

After the program at 4 pm, we went back to the hotel to rest. In the evening, we took the opportunity to go sightseeing in Johor Bahru and stopped for dinner at the Johor Bahru Battery Factory.

The Battery Factory, located in the Tampoi Industrial Estate, Johor Bahru, opened in mid-2015. It is the former site of the Eveready Battery Factory, from which it derived its name. The factory houses various stalls selling accessories, gadgets, clothes, and even a food court. 

This is actually my second visit to the Battery Factory, with my first visit taking place last year (2017). I am returning for a second time because during my first visit, I was unable to try the famous Kacang Pool in JB due to being too full at the time. That's why I must come again this second time, as I want to experience the deliciousness of JB's Kacang Pool.

The famous Kacang Pool in JB's, a more recent creation than other famous Malaysian staples such as Nasi Lemak, Mee Hoon or Roti Canai. Inspired by the Egyptian bean-based staple known as Ful Medames, this hearty dish consists of fava beans that get cooked with spices (and sometimes ground meat) until they have a rich and smooth texture, eaten primarily as breakfast food. 

I also had the opportunity to meet my old friend who served with me on board the KD Raja Jarom, in Woodlands, Singapore in 1981/82. He is Redzuan (can't remember his full name), in fact, he is also in the same intake with me in the Navy, which is intake 139/80. We both underwent training at the Navy Training Center at KD Pelandok, Lumut, Perak in 1980.

After eating at Kilang Bateri, before returning to the hotel, we took the opportunity to go for a walk and enjoy the beauty of the city of Johor Bahru at night.

Johor Bahru is actually no stranger to me because I used to work in Woodlands, Singapore in the 80s and often commute to Johor Bahru from Singapore.
