2017 : GEMAS, N.SEMBILAN, JOHOR BAHRU & SINGAPORE

On 15 April 2017, my 2 sisters and I left for Singapore by taking the ETS train from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Gemas &  KTM Train from Gemas to Johor Bahru.


Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station (KL Sentral), a transit-oriented development that houses the main railway station of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Opened on 16 April 2001, KL Sentral replaced the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station as the city's main intercity railway station. 
KL Sentral is the largest Railway Station in Malaysia, and also in Southeast Asia from 2001 to 2021, before Krung Thep  Aphiwat Central Terminal in Bangkok was completed.

ETS Train (Electronic Train Services) is an inter-city rail service operated by the Malaysian National Railway operator KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad). Begun operation in 2010, it is the fastest metre gauge train service in Malaysia that currently operates between Gemas and Padang Besar on the Malaysia-Thailand border. The ETS can be classified as a Higher Speed Rail Train service as the train travel up to 140 km/h on an electrified metre gauge rail line. 
Type of ETS service are:
1. ETS Silver - stop at all stops, hence taking slighthly longer time
2. ETS Gold - have fewer stops compared to ETS Silver
3. ETS Platinum - have the least stops, complimentary snacks is served onboard. 








All ETS trains have a restaurant car, where you can purchase some drinks and snacks, a prayer room for Muslim passengers, and some trains even have charging tables for infants. 

GEMAS RAILWAY STATION
GEMAS, NEGERI SEMBILAN
Gemas Railway Station located at the eastern side of Gemas, Negeri Sembilan. The old Station was constructed in 1922 as a hub for trains from Penang, Seremban and Kuala Lumpur. It was closed in 2015 as a new building next to it was built. 











ABOUT GEMAS, NEGERI SEMBILAN
Gemas is a transport town in Tampin District, Negeri Sembilan. It is situated 101 km northeast of Seremban, the state capital city, and 32 km north of Segamat, Johor. 
Gemas is notable for being the at the railway junction between the Malaysian west and east coast rail lines. 




The train journey (KTMB Coach) from Gemas Station to Johor Bahru Sentral is 4 hours 48 minutes through several stations such as Segamat, Paloh, Labis, Bekok and so on. 
The Gemas - JB route provides some of the most impressive views in Malaysia., making a train ride a popular way to travel between the charming cities. 






JOHOR BAHRU SENTRAL
JOHOR BHARU, JOHOR

Johor Bahru Sentral (also known as JB Sentral), is an integrated transport hub, in Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru, Johor. 
Inaugurated on 21 October 2010, it replaced the closed Johor Bahru railway Station located 200m south of it. As part of the Southern Integrated Gateway, it is connected to the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex (CIQ Complex). 














While in Johor Bahru my sisters and I stayed at Erica Hotel which is located in Bukit Meldrum, Tanjung Puteri, Johor Bahru, Johor.

The hotel we stayed located at Tanjung Puteri, Johor Bahru. The present area of Johor Bahru was originally known as Tanjung Puteri and was a Malay fishing village. Temenggung Daeing Ibrahim then renamed Tanjung Puteri to Iskandar Puteri upon his arrival to the area in 1858. It was renamed to Johor Bahru by Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor. 

CLEMENTI AVENUE 2
SINGAPORE
16 APRIL 2017
On 16 April 2017, my sisters and I boarded the train from JB Sentral to Woodlands Trains Checkpoint to visit our uncle who was not feeling well in Clementi Avenue 2, Singapore. Upon our arrival at Woodlands Station, our cousin's husband picked us up and took us to have breakfast at a Mamak restaurant in Bukit Timah, Singapore before heading to our uncle's house on Clementi Avenue.

Woodlands is a residential town located in the north of Singapore. Woodlands border to Sembawang to the east, Mandai to the south and Sungai Kadut to the west Woodlands.

Bukit Timah lies roughly 10 km from the Central Business District, bordering the Central Water Catchment to the north, Bukit Panjang to the northwest, Queenstown to the south, Tanglin to the southeast, Clementi to the southwest, Novena to the east and Bukit Batok to the west. 

Clementi Avenue located at the easternmost fringe of the West Region of Singapore. The town borders Bukit Batok to the north, Bukit Timah to the northeast, Queenstown to the east and Jurong East to the west. It is named after to Sir Cecil Clementi Smith who was the first British High Commissioner in the Straits Settlement. 








That's a little bit of our trip to Singapore in 2017.
That was the last time we met our Uncle in Singapore because our Uncle passed away in 2023. Al Fatihah.
