On 4 February 2013, Yayasan Jantung Malaysia's Awareness team and I left for Bukit Mertajam for the School Level Health program at SMK Berapit. SMK Berapit is located on Jalan Berapit, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

We spent the night at Sri Indar Hotel located on Jalan Sungai Rambai, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

The School Level for the Heart Disease Awareness Program for the year 2013 continues at Sek.Men.Keb. Berapit, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

The 2-days program from 5-6 February 2013 was attended by 227 students, teachers, and school staff. We were assisted by nurses from Bukit Mertajam College of Nursing during the program.

The establishment of SMK Berapit has been going on for twenty years. Starting with boarding at a national type primary school in a small village, now SMK Berapit has been equipped with various infrastructures that have improved the performance of its students.

The Yayasan Jantung Malaysia Heart Disease Health Screening Program takes place at Permata Apartments, Bandar Baru Perda located in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. This apartment is also the residence of a family member of one of our staff.

The program which runs from 9 am to 2 pm was assisted by nurses from the Perai Tengah District Health Office. A total of 85 residents of Apt. Permata underwent a health screening that day.

Bandar Baru Perda is a Township located in Bukit Mertajam, Seberang Perai Tengah. The name Perda is taken in conjunction with the name of the Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA). The Bandar Perda project started in 1994.

There used to be AEON Seberang Perai City Shopping Center here but now it has moved to AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam.

SMK Permatang Rawa is located in Bandar Baru Perda, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. A total of 131 students as well as teachers and school staff underwent the Health Screening Test organized by YJM.

Nursing staff assistance was obtained from KPJ International College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

The program at the same school was also conducted in 3 March 2015. 

During the program in Bandar Baru Perda and SMK Permatang Rawa, we stayed at the Palm Inn Hotel located in Taman Industri Permatang Baru, Bukit Mertajam.

AEON MALL BUKIT MERTAJAM

AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam is the largest shopping center in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. Located in Jalan Rozhan, Bukit Mertajam, it opened on 4 June 2014 replacing AEON Seberang Perai City located in Bandar Perda, also in Bukit Mertajam, P.Pinang.

The Malaysian Heart Foundation's Health Screening Program was carried out at this Complex from 21 - 24 August 2014.

A total of 176 people underwent the Health Screening Test during the 4 days of this program. Nursing staff assistance obtained from Bukit Mertajam College of Nursing, Penang.

We stayed at Hotel Seri Pauh located in Perai, Penang during the program at AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam.

JAMBATAN SULTAN ABDUL HALIM MUADZAM SHAH

Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah (Penang Second Bridge) was officially opened pm 1 March 2014 by YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak , the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The bridge opened its door to the public at the stroke of 1.00 p.m on 2 March 2014. 

The bridge's overall length is 24 km  with 16.9 km is the length of the marine bridge over the water. It is linking Batu Kawan on the Mainland to Batu Maung on the Island and it is currently second longest bridge in Southeast Asia.

My colleagues and I were able to cross the second bridge in Penang on 25 March 2014 while on our way to Sungai Petani, Kedah for the 2014 Kedah Heart Week program at Central Square, Sungai Petani, Kedah.
