WHAKAREWAREWA - THE LIVING MAORI VILLAGE, ROTORUA
New Zealand's Iconic Living Maori Village - Whakarewarewa is the legacy and home of the Tuhourangi Ngati Wahiao people, who have been sharing their unique way of life with visitors from all around the world for over two hundred years.
The Maori community is able to trace the heritage of their ancestors, the Te Arawa clan, who first occupied the valley in 1325 AD. Since the 1800s, they have hosted and welcomed foreign guests to their homes to share their experiences and Maori culture.
The people of Whakarewarewa are Maori of Polynesian descent, whose family lines can be traced back to the Te Arawa people, whose waka (war canoe) arrived on the shores of New Zealand sometime between 1250 and 1300 AD.
“Rangatira for Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao”
Another attraction in Whakarewarewa Village is the geothermal features found in this village. Whakarewarewa Valley is an active geothermal area with hot pools, boiling mud, and geysers. The Māori people have lived here for centuries, living in harmony with the geothermal forces that lie beneath their feet.
LAKE ROTORUA
Lake Rotorua, located in the North Island of New Zealand, has an unparalleled natural landscape. The lake was formed as a result of the eruption of an active volcano, namely Mount Tarawera, and is surrounded by clear water, pleasant air, chirping birds, and a Green Fern Forest. It is understood that the last time Mount Tarawera erupted was in 1886, which resulted in the death of more than 100 people.
One of the things that makes the atmosphere in Lake Rotorua even more beautiful is the presence of many seagulls flying around in the pleasant breeze that evening.
Seagulls or gulls are species of seabirds from the Laridae family that can fly for a long time.
The presence of seagulls in the ocean makes the sailors on the ship happy because it is a sign of approaching land....
SEAGULL is a bird that lives near the sea and has short legs, long wings, and a white and grey feathers. Its belong to the seabird family Laridae.
Seagulls live near the sea because their main food is fish, they inhabit coastlines of oceans and major lakes. They typically prefer to stay within sight of land - some travel far inland to find food.
It was the end of the tour for the day, and the group was taken back to the Rosecourt Motel for a rest.
