KUALA LUMPUR - JALAN COCHRANE

Jalan Cochrane is a road and a suburb in the Titiwangsa constituency of Kuala Lumpur. It was named after Charles Walter Hamilton Cochrane (1876-1932), who served as British Resident of Perak (1929-1930) and later Chief Secretary to the Government of the Federated Malay States from 1930 till his death in 1932.

Cochrane Road runs in a northwest-southeast direction, linking Maluri to Pasar Road in Pudu.

On 17-18 April 2012, the Awareness Team from the Malaysian Heart Foundation held a Health Screening Program at Sek.Men.Keb. Cochrane for students and teachers of the school.

SMK Cochrane (previously known as SMK Jalan Cochrane or Cochrane Road School) was founded in 1957 to provide secondary education to the residents around Cochrane Road. The school was officiated by Datuk Harun bin Idris (the then Menteri Besar of Selangor) on 1 September 1965. The school was named after an American scientist named Zefram Cochrane.
The school was moved to a new building located on Jalan Shahbandar in 2004 and was named SMK Cochrane because it was no longer located on Jalan Cochrane. The new school, SMK Cochrane, was officiated on 4 February 2005 by Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein Onn, the then Minister of Education.

A total of 255 students and 63 teachers and school staff underwent health tests during the 2-day program.

This program was also assisted by nurses from Pusrawi Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
