Gombak Setia, a state constituency in Selangor has been represented in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly since 1986. Gombak borders Kuala Lumpur to the southeast and the Genting Highlands to the east. Both Gombak and Kuala Lumpur, along with some borders in Selangor, are situated within the Klang Valley.
Gombak is the home to an aboriginal Orang Asli settlement and also home to the International Islamic University Malaysia.
I went to school at SRJK (English) Gombak 2 from 1968 to 1973.
This photograph captures Class Standard 3C from SRJK (Inggeris) Gombak 2, Kuala Lumpur in 1970.
The school was originally known as Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan (Inggeris) Gombak. It was officially opened on 28 November 1964 by the then Menteri Besar Selangor, Dato' Harun bin Hj Idris.
In 1971, the school was formally divided into two administrative entities : Gombak 1 and Gombak 2 to manage the large number of Students.
The photo of the 1970 (Standard 3C) represent the final year before the school transitioned into the two separate morning/afternoon session schools that defined it for decades.
