MELAKA : 2012 - AEON BANDARAYA MELAKA

AEON Bandaraya Melaka Shoppine Centre is a hypermarket but typical urban shopping mall for everyone, especially for family. Located at Jalan Lagenda, Taman 1, Melaka, is one of the most-frequented malls in Melaka.

AEON Bandaraya Melaka opened to the public on 17 December 2009. However, an explosion due to a gas leak occurred, which killed 1 person and injured 13 others on 14 December 2009. The opening had to be postponed to February 2010.

Among the memories I can't forget with AEON Bandaraya Melaka is when I was involved in the health screening program  held here from 23 to 28 March 2012 organised by the Heart Foundation of Malaysia.

A total of 755 people attended the health screening tests and 141 people taking the electrocardiogram tests during our one week in Melaka.

While in Melaka we stayed at Hang Tuah City Hotel (previously known as Straits Meridian Hotel) which is located in Taman Malinja, Bukit Baru, Melaka.
** The Hotel is now known as Capital O Hotel Super Cowboy (2024)

The travel distance from our office in Kuala Lumpur to Hang Tuah City Hotel is 145 km, taking 1 hour 51 minutes to drive.

The food stall located near the hotel we were staying at. This is where we had dinner on the first night we arrived here. Unexpectedly, my cousin Rokiah Hanim and her husband has come to visit me at this stall. Hanim happened to live not far from our hotel.

A very famous Melaka cuisine, Asam Pedas Daging Tetel (a beef with some fats attached to it). It is a Malaysian Traditional Dish made from beef with sour and spicy sauce. Asam pedas means "sour and spicy" my favorite dish. That night I ate 2 plates of rice with Asam Pedas Daging Tetel....Yummy..

BUKIT BARU, MELAKA
Bukit Baru is a town in Melaka Tengah District which is administered by 2 local governments, Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council to the north and Historical Malacca City Council to the south.
This town is just outside my hotel, a walking distance only. I took the opportunity to dedicate photos to memories around the hotel where I stayed.

Keluargaku located at Kompleks Perniagaan Al-Azim, is a departmental Store in Bukit Baru, Melaka, just a walking distance from our hotel. Shopping mall that sells Traditional Clothes, Malay/Kurung, Boys, School Clothes, school uniforms. Groceries, and others.

Open University Malaysia, abbreviated as OUM is the 7th private university in Malaysia, owned by Multimedia Technology Enhancement Operations (METEOR) Sdn Bhd, a consortium of 11 Malaysian Public universities.
All OUM programmes are approved by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Al-Azim Mosque is the state mosque of Melaka, located next to Melaka General Hospital, the Melaka Al-Quran Museum and Makam Pahlawan Negeri.
The mosque was constructed to replace the former state mosque at Transquerah Mosque and officially opened on 13 July 1990 the the ninth Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak.

The Malacca Islamic Religious Council was founded on 28 September 1960. It aims to manage the affairs of the Islamic State of Malacca as well as assist and advise His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Do visit Melaka...... the charming UNESCO World Heritage City, rich with history, culture, colonial buildings, ancient landmarks, family-friendly attractions and yummy local cuisine.
