MELAKA : JALAN MUNSHI ABDULLAH

On our way back from the Health program in Masai and Johor Bahru, my team and I stopped overnight in Melaka. We stayed at the Emperor Hotel located on Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Melaka.

The travel distance from Masai, Johor to Emperor Hotel at Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Melaka is 226 km and takes 2 hours 38 minutes.

Emperor Hotel offering proximity to Melaka Island, which is approximately a 20-minutes walk away, the 3-star hotel provides guests with parking on site.
It is situated just 500 metres from the well-known Kampung Hulu Mosque and only a few minutes from Cheng Hoon Teng Temple.

Masjid Al-Hamideen also known as Masjid Bukit Cina situated at Bukit Cina, Melaka Tengah, Melaka. It was built in 1865 from public donations and was raised in 1978 with financial assistance from the government.

Explore the colorful streets of Little India in Melaka, where Indian culture thrives with vibrant markets, delicious cuisine and rich traditions.

JALAN MUNSHI ABDULLAH
MELAKA
27 FEBRUARY 2024
At 8 am on February 24, 2024, I, my wife, and my second sister (Kakngah) left my house in Lembah Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, for my eldest brother's house in Seremban 2. The journey from Lembah Keramat, KL, to Seremban 2 is 75.1 km and takes about 1 hour. However, due to traffic congestion on the PLUS Highway, the journey takes longer.

At my brother's house in Seremban 2, we had breakfast prepared by my sister-in-law before we continued our journey to Melaka.

HANG TUAH HALL, MELAKA
Hang Tuah Hall located at Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Melaka. My family and I attended our cousin's daughter's wedding at this hall on 24 February 2024.
This hall was officiated on 15 July 1963 by the then Chief Minister of Melaka, YAB En. Abdul Ghafar bin Baba.

Interestingly, behind this hall we can see the beauty of the Melaka River which is a tourist attraction. On this river is also the Melaka River Cruise route.

The Melaka River Cruise is more than just a means to get across town. While on board, visitors will also have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge around the rich culture and fascinating history that the state holds.
The cruise set sail past various historical landmarks including Tan Kim Seng Bridge, which is a tribute to a wealthy Melakan trader and the iconic Kampung Jawa Bridge that was built in 1714. Along this picturesque 45-minute ride also, you will get to enjoy spectacular views of the Stadhuys, Jonker Street, Kampung Morten and many more.

Masjid Kg. Hulu is a mosque situated at Kampong Hulu Village in Melaka. It is the oldest mosque in Melaka and among the oldest in the country. It is built around the year 1720 - 1728 and underwent renovation in 1892.

After the Zuhr Jamak Taqdim Prayer, we continued our journey back to Kuala Lumpur. The 154 km journey took 2 hours, but due to traffic jams on the highway, our journey took longer.

On my way back, I saw a yellow hotel that reminded me of 2013 when I stayed at this hotel, the Emperor Hotel, located on Jalan Munshi Abdullah.

Do visit Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage listing comprising the historic urban centres of two cities, Melaka and Georgetown in Penang, that illustrate 500 years of cultural and trade exchange between the East and the West.
